Cinnamon Supplements for Acne

There are several supplements that are great for clearing acne, but today lets talk about Cinnamon!

Cinnamon helps to clear your skin in in few ways:

It lowers your blood sugar.

  • Elevated glucose and insulin levels are extremely common, especially for those who consume a high carbohydrate diet without enough exercise. These conditions can cause or exacerbate acne by increasing the turnover of dead skin cells and producing excess oil in the sebaceous glands (clogging the pores).

With continued use of cinnamon, your skin should be less oily and your acne, reduced.

  • It kills acne bacteria and balances gut flora.

Propionibacterium Acne (P. Acne) and Staphylococcus Epidermis bacteria are mostly responsible for bacterial acne.

Cinnamon contains a natural chemical called cinnamaldehyde, which can kill unfriendly acne bacteria and other pathogens with its antibacterial and antifungal properties.

  • It balances progesterone and testosterone hormone levels.

Women with hormonal acne most likely have high testosterone levels, which can increase the presence of acne.

Cinnamon helps to lower the amount of testosterone produced by women, while increasing the amount of progesterone.

Progesterone is a revitalizing hormone that is extremely beneficial for maintaining skin elasticity and proper circulation.

For men, cinnamon has been known to increase testosterone, boosting testicular health - how convenient!

*Make sure you get the Ceylon cinnamon variety as the Cassia variety can be toxic in higher doses. You can find it in health food shops, supermarkets with a health food section, or even Amazon (links below).

*Just 1 supplement after each meal is effective for acne treatment. Or you can even just sprinkle a teaspoon of Ceylon cinnamon powder over your food/in your beverages each day.
